3 Tattoo Ideas from Amsterdam
Hello everyone! In today’s blog, I’ll share some beautiful ideas for tattoos you can get in AMSTERDAM . This post isn’t just for tourists — it’s for everyone who loves Amsterdam. It’s a city with such a unique charm, one that goes far beyond canals, museums, and stroopwafels. To truly experience that charm, you have to come here! And getting a tattoo while visiting Amsterdam is probably one of the best ways to remember this place forever. Enjoy!
TULIP – IDEA NO. 1
Let’s start with TULIPS . Is there any flower more strongly connected to the Netherlands than the tulip? It’s truly the country of tulips! There’s even a Tulip Museum here!
It’s a beautiful flower — and it makes for a wonderful tattoo. NATALIE` from our studio specializes in floral designs, and her tulip tattoos are one of a kind. If you look at her drawings (yes, she really draws!), you’ll notice the subtle touch of her artist’s hand. Every tulip tattoo she creates is unique — just like every tulip in a field is different from the next. There are no two identical tulips, and there are no two exactly the same tulip tattoos made by her. When she creates, it feels like a live performance. There’s a design — like there are notes and structure to a song — but when you play it live, it gains the magic of the moment. Oh, and she uses only monochromatic colors — somehow, for her, that’s the way to capture timeless beauty. So… are you ready to BOOK an appointment?
THE THREE CROSSES OF AMSTERDAM – IDEA NO. 2
If you’re not familiar with their symbolism and history, I owe you a few words of explanation. The crosses of Amsterdam called St. Andrew’s crosses are everywhere here — on bridges, roads, sidewalks, and buildings.
But what do they mean?
According to legend, they commemorate three disasters that struck Amsterdam in the past: fire, water, and the Black Death. Today, the three crosses have become one of the city’s most recognizable symbols — appearing on flags, souvenirs, and clothing. Getting a tattoo of the Crosses of Amsterdam is a great conversation starter. If someone notices it, I’m sure they’ll ask about the STORY behind it. Who knows — maybe it will even spark a new friendship?
LAST IDEA – POSTAGE STAMP WITH TULIPS
I know, I know — I started with tulips, but since they’re so beautiful, I’d love to end with them too! A postage stamp is another amazing tattoo idea inspired by Amsterdam. You can include a date, a word, or a quote that summarizes your visit here — or, if you live here, something that honors this city. A postage stamp design can also be done in a vintage style, with softly faded edges. Creativity is the only limit — and we’re here to help you bring your ideas to life!
Thank You!
I’m so grateful for your time and for reading this blog! I hope it inspired you. Having an idea is one thing, but finding the right place to make it happen is another pair of shoes!
I truly believe that Vadelma Tattoo is a wonderful place to turn those ideas into reality — though I might be a little biased, since I love what we do in our studio. As always, come check it out for yourself!
With love,
Simon
