Be healthy, rested, eat and hydrate properly before getting tattooed.

Take a sugary drink, water, snacks, some fruit or chocolate bar with you. For a longer session, even more food 🙂

Moisturize the placement of a new tattoo with some organic creams a couple of days prior to session, but not the dat before and on the day of a session.

Avoid excess sun exposure and sun burn, within 10-15 days prior to being tattooed or use sun lotion ( at least 30 SPF ). Take care of that placement where you are going to have a tattoo.

Wear loose clothing that can easily reveal the area being tattooed. Keep in mind that tattoos on the torso, especially on the ribs may require you to be shirtless. If this makes you uncomfortable, consider wearing a button down shirt, that can be flipped to reveal the area while covering your front. MORE IN THE LINK BELOW.

Day before, you should not drink alcohol.

Avoid taking painkillers before getting a tattoo. They thin your blood, leading to increased bleeding, which can dilute the ink and complicate healing. Additionally, painkillers dull pain, risking skin overwork, which can cause scarring and poor ink retention. Pain is a natural guide—without it, your skin might suffer more damage.

Take your favorite music or book to entertain yourself during the tattoo session.

But most importantly, be relaxed and enjoy your time in the studio!

Your Ultimate Guide to Preparing for a Tattoo Session :

https://vadelma.eu/blog/your-ultimate-guide-to-preparing-for-a-tattoo-session/

After discussing your design and preferences, prior to the session, we can give you an estimated tattooing time. However, please keep in mind that this is just an approximation based on the size and complexity of your tattoo we discussed. At Vadelma Tattoo, we prioritize your best experience over speed. It doesn’t mean that we are slow, it means that we care. It means that there will be no rush, making sure You have a tattoo You will love for a lifetime! Remember, when you’re deciding to get a tattoo, 15 minutes here or there is nothing compared to having a beautiful, meaningful design on your skin for the rest of your life. Taking time for preparation and aftercare ensures the tattoo looks amazing and heals properly, giving you a lasting piece of art you’ll cherish forever.

Preparation Time

On average, it’s a good idea to allow 15–30 minutes for preparation before the tattooing itself. This time is used for setting up, finalizing the design, and ensuring you’re comfortable.

Aftercare

After the tattoo is finished, we recommend setting aside at least 15 minutes to go over the healing process, answer any questions you may have, and for a final check on your new piece of art. It’s also a good moment to reflect on the experience and say goodbye.

For a more detailed understanding of the entire process, including the intricacies of tattoo healing and other helpful tips, please read this blog post:

https://vadelma.eu/blog/sessions-time-estimation/

Our studio minimum price is 150 Euro. Which is at the same time our hour rate. This reflects the love, effort, and craft that go into creating a piece you’ll cherish for life. Additionally, our studio operates exclusively by appointment, allowing us to focus on one client at a time. This ensures that your experience is personal and tailored to your needs. Which means: no rush and other customers in the studio. At Vadelma Tattoo, we understand that there are still stereotypes about quick, 5 minutes impersonal tattoo sessions. We are here to change it. Even the smallest tattoo deserves attention. That’s why we prioritize quality and care in every appointment.

How is the final price determined?

  • Motif: The design you choose.
  • Body Placement: Different areas of the body can affect the complexity.
  • Time Required: Please read our BLOG about this topic.

Can the price change during the appointment?

Let’s bring more beautiful tattoos to the world!

Hello Everyone, it’s Natalie Vadelma here!

I am the founder of Vadelma Tattoo Amsterdam, the studio where You can get one of the most beautiful floral art pieces in the Netherlands. My goal is to create tattoos of flowers that really capture the uniqueness, delicateness and loveliness of them. To achieve the full connection between skin and ink. To provide tattoos that are smoothly connected to the body – embracing it like silk.

My Biography

I have been drawing my whole life. Paper, pencil and crayons used to be my favorite toys. Flowers, plants and leaves – where my favorite objects to sketch. I began to learn how to draw professionally as a teenager. I attended to “Studio Rysunku Gabriel and Kos,” a drawing school in my hometown Opole/Poland. It was a 3-years extracurricular course that prepared people for architectural studies. It gave me a strong foundation to develop my style of tattooing.

From 2013-2017 I studied Architecture in Gliwice, graduating with the title of engineer-architect. In the meantime during the last years of studies, I did my internship and first job in one of the local architectural offices. At that point I realized that my true self is craving for real artistic expression and architecture is not for me.

In mid 2017 I moved for the first time abroad – to Rotterdam and then to Schiedam. As a result, I reconnect with my artistic passion. With a little help from Simon Vadelma, I decided to give tattoos a try. I attended a tattoo school in Cracow. Great, complex lessons with an experienced teacher. That’s how it all has begun.

In 2021 I moved to Helsinki. It was a wonderful practice for me, and what’s more importantly, Vadelma Tattoo was born there. From the sketch and plan to the grand opening in fall of 2021 in Turku – 4th largest city in Finland. Since that time, Simon has been working and tattooing with me.

After almost 3 years in the Nordic Country, I decided to live in Amsterdam. There is something about the Netherlands that I truly love and wanted to come back to.

Vadelma Tattoo re-opened on the 1st February 2024 in Amsterdam. It is located on the Bilderdijkstraat 77.

In my free time, I enjoy drawing ( never get enough ), long walks and a good coffee.

Please come alone.

Making a tattoo needs the highest concentration from an artist.

Our studio works like a gabinet of a doctor. For a doctor’s appointment adults also come alone. As professionals we know what to do, and we’ll take the best care of You and the whole tattooing process.  A tattoo session also goes much smoother with minimum people engaged. Due to sanitary concerns, only the client ( + artist/assistant ) is allowed within the tattooing area.

We have a waiting area in front of the studio where your companions can wait for you. However, we’ve found that it’s much more enjoyable for everyone if they take a stroll and explore the beauty of Amsterdam instead. Frequent messages like ‘How long?’ or ‘Is it ready now?’ can add unnecessary pressure to the tattoo experience.

To enhance your time with us, we encourage your companions to enjoy the city and return to the studio when the tattoo is ready. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

No.

We have our reasons for it .

Full List : fingers, heels, palms, neck, feet, hand, under ankle, ear, lips, face, butt cheek etc.

https://vadelma.eu/blog/finger-tattoos-why-we-dont-do-them-at-vadelma-tattoo/

By reading BLOG from link above, You will have a better understanding why we decide to avoid those placements.

Being sick is an obvious “NO” to go for a session.
During colds, flu and similar things our body is more weak and to get a tattoo it is important to be healthy.
It is also responsible to stay at home, because bacterias and viruses tend to spread ( as we all remember in the last few years ), and by coming to a tattoo artist, hairdresser etc. it can affect other people. That can cause for example 2 weeks of staying home for me, and the need to postpone a lot of other people’s appointments.
So please contact us! We will pospone Your session! There is nothing more important that health in life!

We only tattoo people that are 18 or older, even with the consent of parents or the legal guardian.

More about it in the BLOG below :

Hello Everyone, it’s Simon Vadelma here!

I am the co-owner of Vadelma Tattoo Amsterdam, the studio where You can get one of the best text and minimalistic pieces in the Netherlands. People decide to get a tattoo with their favorite sentences, reminders of loved ones, or motivations for everyday life. Such important things – words – something that connects us – human beings –  with ourselves, other people, our past, present, future. I am here to make the transition between them and Your skin.

My Biography

I have been interested in tattoo art since my early teenage years. Taking advantage of every chance to go to the tattoo studio, whenever older family members or friends were getting inked.

From 2014-2017 I studied Civil Engineering in Opole/Poland. Making tons of technical drawings by hand. Now I find it extremely helpful with tattooing. Especially in tattoos I make, where precision is crucial. In the meantime I was teaching people playing guitar and drums – to make the student life easier.

In mid 2017 I moved abroad – to Rotterdam and then to Schiedam. Not yet tattooing, but working in technical jobs.

From 2019 – 2020 I moved from the Netherlands to Hall in Tirol, Austria. Preparing to change profession and living through corona lockdowns.

In 2021 I moved to Helsinki with Natalie Vadelma. There, the concept of having our own studio turned into reality. Finally – we opened Vadelma Tattoo in Turku.

After almost 3 years in the Nordics. I felt that it is a good time to change. Going back to the Netherlands – to Amsterdam – is the best decision! Love this city!

Vadelma Tattoo re-opened on the 1st February 2024 in Amsterdam. It is located on the Bilderdijkstraat 77.

Despite tattooing and running the studio –  I read books, play guitar and walk a lot!

Design” section is our online catalogue!

Choosing our studio means you can be sure that your tattoo will be one-of-a-kind. Vadelma Tattoo is the only place in the world where you can get a tattoo designed by Natalie or Simon, which makes it a truly special experience.

Every tattoo we create is made by us. In today’s social media world, where it can be tough to tell one tattooer from another, our designs and values really help us stand out. We’re proud of the work we do for You and can’t wait to share it with more people!

In nature, no two flowers, animals, or creations are ever the same. Just as every petal and brushstroke is unique, so too is the art we create. This is main goal of our approach—each project we undertake is a reflection of our perception and creativity, tailored to resonate with you. Especially, if You look to the details. With a Tulip, Rose, text tattoo, or any other project, please be sure that we will make the whole tattoo experience personal and the tattoo will be made especially for You!

The final tattoo that will be placed on Your body will be adjusted to Your needs. Will be made with love and our best expertise.

Your Tattoo Dreams, Our Expertise

Let us turn your tattoo dreams into a stunning reality. With our creativity and expertise, we’re here to craft a design that’s uniquely yours.

In principle we are not making Cover-Ups.

We do not recommend getting a tattoo while breastfeeding. It is better to wait, enjoy the beautiful time with the newborn and get a tattoo a little bit later.

Tattoo allergy is rare, but it can happen. For those who are allergic by nature or/and are getting their first tattoo, we can make a short test to find it out!

In that case feel free to write to us to book a short ALLERGY-TEST consultation.

We will talk about it, implement a small amount of ink ( Yes! It will be the same process as with a tattoo ). There is no other way to check it, than to put the ink to Your skin 🙂

However, please don’t worry. It will be a small dot ( You can always tell people that it is a tattoo of the Planet Earth seen from far away ), not in a visible placement.

Cost of that Test is 49 Euro ( Vat included ).

Generally it is not recommended. However there might be some exceptions to that rule. If the skin is in the remission, or the tattoo is going to be located in the placement with no affected area.

However, if You want to have a tattoo and You are aware that Your skin is atopic ( or You have any other health condition, that might affect getting a tattoo ( extremely dry or very sensitive skin ) ).

Please, before You contact us, make Your own research about this topic, to be fully aware of possible consequences, and then it is wise to contact a dermatologist and ask also for advice. Even though we are making every tattoo with the highest attention, care and precision. In such cases it is not possible to predict the way the tattoo will heal, and therefore the final result might be different than usual.

If possible please write in English.

To some degree it is possible to communicate in Dutch ( working on it! )

Usually not, you will first see it at your appointment.

We prepare designs before the session.

After inquiry and booking a spot, we start to create a unique project for You.

It always takes time to make something special.

With a detailed description of your idea  and sending reference pictures,

you would help us a lot to harmonize with your expectations.

“Tattoos that matter – for People who care”

Yes ! We are licenced by GGD!

Possible scenarios where you would like to get touch 4-10 weeks later :

  • You have oily skin and the healed result is lighter than you would like it to be.
  • You have sensitive skin and the healed result is lighter than you would like it to be.
  • In any case you decide you’d like it to be darker, thicker, fuller.

This topic in detail in link below

https://vadelma.eu/blog/touch-up-policy/

So we don’t offer touch ups?

No, of course we do offer them! But it is important to encourage people to take the proper care of the tattoo. We don’t charge much for a potential touch up, it is a fee to cover our basic cost of material and equipment needed to make a tattoo. Making a touch up in its core, doesn’t differ from making a tattoo. We need to take the same hygienic protocol, use the same amount of materials and book a new appointment for You.

This Blog will help You to better understand how special tattoos are:

https://vadelma.eu/blog/fresh-vs-healed/

Yes! If You would like to book an appointment for a matching tattoo with Your friend, partner or family member! You are more than welcome to contact us! Text tattoos and flowers are just perfect for that purpose!

However, to make the whole process as convenient for You and us as possible, only one person at time – who is getting a tattoo – will come with us to the actual studio-gabinet for the tattooing process. For the hygienic reasons only the customer and tattoo artists could be in the studio while tattooing. No cats, dogs, or additional people.

Our waiting area is separate from the tattooing area. So You will be literally 5 second away from Your friend, partner or family member 🙂

You can imagine of a polyclinic concept, but not as scary as doctors, however same level of professionalism and safety.

But don’t worry! You would be able to make a consultation between You! We understand that it is important! There will be enough time for talking and everything!

But when everything will be agreed and approved. One of You will wait in our lovely waiting area during the tattooing process. There are also great cafes just around the corner, so one of You can go and grab a coffee and enjoy the beautiful city of Amsterdam in the meantime!

You can imagine – that to do a tattoo we need full concentration, and You will have this tattoo for the whole life – so it is better for all of us that we have good working conditions and peace of mind to make such an important thing as a tattoo. An art on Your body. From our experience it is the best way to do it, and afterward our customers are happy and satisfied with the way we work. We really care about our work and Your tattoos 🙂

What’s also very important – between the tattoos, we need to clean everything, make desinfection protocol and change all the tattoo set up. To make it properly it also takes a bit time. It is also the reason why You will come separetly for a matching tattoos. It is all about the hygienic, professionalism and Your overall well being in the Vadelma Tattoo.

Unfortunately, we are not able to send pictures of every tattoo made in our studio, that’s why we don’t send them at all. With the amount of tattoos made, it is even hard to post them all on our Instagrams, Pinterest or website. The most important picture for You is the tattoo You will carry on Your skin 🙂

Please keep in mind that, if Your tattoo doesn’t appear on our social media – it doesn’t mean we don’t love it! We only accept the projects that fit our style and artistic values, that’s why we truly love all the tattoos made for You by us!

If Your tattoo appears on the Internet, feel free to download the pictures from there!

Numbing creams :

  1. Skin Texture Changes: Some numbing creams can alter the texture of the skin, making it more difficult for the tattoo artist to work smoothly and accurately. This can result in uneven lines or shading.
  2. Reduced Sensitivity: While the primary purpose of numbing creams is to reduce pain, they can also reduce sensitivity to the point where the client may not be able to accurately convey their comfort level or provide feedback during the tattooing process. This lack of communication can hinder the artist’s ability to adjust their technique accordingly.
  3. Extended Session Time: Numbing creams can prolong the tattooing session since the artist may need to work more slowly and cautiously to ensure precision, especially if the client’s reduced sensitivity makes it challenging to gauge their comfort level.
  4. Risk of Overworking: Since numbing creams mask pain, clients may not realize when their skin is becoming irritated or overworked. This can lead to excessive trauma to the skin, resulting in prolonged healing times, increased risk of infection, and potentially compromised tattoo quality.
  5. Allergic Reactions: Some individuals may have allergic reactions to the ingredients in numbing creams, which can cause redness, swelling, or other adverse skin reactions. These reactions can further complicate the tattooing process and may require the session to be halted or postponed.

That’s why do not use them before, during and after the tattooing process!

You will always get a beautiful design, created by us in our unique style of tattooing.
Not a copy from Pinterest, Instargam or AI.
It is crafted by us in the time between booking and Your actual appointment. We create Your design prior to the session, to have the most productive time only on tattooing. Our whole expertise and guidance through the process. Detailed After Care instruction. Lovely atmosphere and a peaceful tattoo session.
