Tattoo prediction for 2025
Happy New Year to all of you!
As we step into 2025, I want to wish everyone a year full of LOVE, HAPPINESS, and BEAUTY. We all need these things, and at Vadelma Tattoo, we can help you find beauty through the art of tattoos. Art brings us happiness. So, let’s dive into a little thought experiment where I try to predict where tattoos are headed in 2025!
Increasing Customer Awareness: The Tattoo Industry Gets Smarter
Tattoos have moved from being a niche subculture to a widely accepted form of artistic expression. As a result, customers are becoming more discerning. The demand for originality, quality work, and professionalism has never been higher. This is a huge positive for the tattoo industry!
It’s no longer acceptable to work in a messy studio with poorly trained artists, or for a customer to get a tattoo without considering its meaning or long-term effects. Many people are now more than happy to pay a fair price for a unique design that comes from an experienced artist who cares about hygiene, artistry, and their clients’ well-being, rather than having quick-I-don’t care session.
Fine Line & Delicate Tattoos: A Trend That’s Here to Stay
For several years now, the fine line tattoo trend has been taking the tattoo world by storm, and it’s not slowing down. We’ve been fortunate enough to be part of this movement, especially through the work of our talented artist, Natalie, who was one of the pioneers of fine line tattoos at Vadelma Tattoo.
While there were doubts in the early days—people questioned whether fine lines would fade quickly or lack durability—artists who specialize in this style have proved that fine line tattoos are long-lasting, solid, and visually stunning. This style is here to stay!
Tattoo Acceptance in the Netherlands: A Cultural Shift
A few years ago, tattoos were still seen as taboo in certain professional settings here in the Netherlands. Public sector workers, for example, were even restricted from having visible tattoos. Thankfully, this perception is changing fast.
At Vadelma Tattoo, we see clients from all walks of life—lawyers, doctors, teachers, business owners, even police officers. It’s incredible to watch the shift from tattoos being something rebellious or countercultural to being a mainstream form of self-expression. The fact that people are no longer afraid to express themselves with tattoos is one of the most exciting developments in the tattoo world.
What’s Next?
By 2025, tattoos will be so mainstream that it’ll be normal for professionals in all fields to have them. The outdated stereotypes surrounding tattoos, like the association with criminals or rebellious youth, will continue to fade away. I wouldn’t be surprised if some sectors (especially creative fields) even begin to embrace tattoos as a form of personal branding!
Seeking Beauty Over Fun: Tattoos with Meaning
For years, tattoos were often chosen on a whim or as part of a fun experience with friends, especially in touristic cities. But this is changing. More and more people are coming to us for tattoos with personal meaning—pieces that reflect who they are or what they believe in.
At Vadelma Tattoo, we’ve made it a rule to only tattoo sober clients. Why? Because tattoos should be done with intention, and we want each tattoo to hold meaning for the wearer. Too many people regret their impulsive tattoos and wish they’d put more thought into the design. Having an Appoitments Only studio really helps, becouse there is no Walk-In possibility in our studio, and customers needs to contact us in advance to get a tattoo. It makes the whole process better for both sides, in our opinion.
What’s Next?
We’ll see more clients coming in for meaningful tattoos that represent personal stories, achievements, or cultural heritage.
Decreasing Popularity of Guest Spots
The rise of guest spot artists—tattooists traveling to different studios for short stints—was an exciting development, but now we’re seeing a shift. More clients are seeking out tattoo artists who are based in a studio for the long term. Why? Because there’s a deeper, more personal connection when an artist works locally and consistently with clients.
Clients want to build relationships with their tattoo artists, not just pop in for a single design. Plus, it’s easier for clients to follow up with an artist they see regularly, which leads to better long-term results. In the world where human connections are on a decline, it is a good way to build trust and normal relations, a real one, not only screen-like.
What’s Next?
Although guest spots may become less common, they won’t disappear entirely. Instead, they might turn into exclusive events or opportunities for tattoo artists to collaborate with other professionals in the industry.
What Are Your Predictions for 2025?
I’d love to hear what you think!

Much love,
