Getting a Tattoo While on Holiday in Amsterdam (2026 Guide)
Welcome everyone!
The holiday season is officially open in Amsterdam 2026. Are you planning to get a tattoo during your stay? Perfect — but let’s do it right. Let’s make it meaningful, well thought-out, and beautiful. And yes, maybe let’s make it at Vadelma Tattoo.
Avoid the Black Hole of Online Forums
This is something I would never recommend: relying on random online forums for tattoo advice.
The amount of half-truths and pure nonsense you can find there is impressive — and not in a good way. I once read a sentence that said:
“Tulip tattoos are so easy that it’s not worth paying for them — everybody can do them.”
That’s a perfect example of trolling disguised as advice.
Here’s a simple rule of thumb:
For reliable tattoo information, always ask professional tattoo artists.
And please remember — it is always better to skip getting a tattoo than to get one you’ll regret later. This is your body, and tattoos are permanent.
Also… it’s Amsterdam.
We do have some excellent tattoo artists here — Natalie and myself included.
Plan Your Tattoo in Advance
Planning ahead is always the smart move.
If you want to get tattooed by an artist whose work truly speaks to you, booking your session in advance gives you the best chance. That said, tattooing can sometimes be flexible — sessions get postponed, schedules open up, and occasionally it is possible to book on short notice.
So please don’t hesitate to write anyway.
You might get lucky.
If you already have an idea, you can also browse our available tattoo projects to see what we’re currently working on.
Think for Yourself (Especially on Holiday)
Coming to Amsterdam with friends is wonderful. Getting tattoos together can be great too — if it truly feels right.
I have nothing against matching tattoos. But if you don’t feel 100% convinced, don’t do it. At the end of the day, you are the one who will live with that tattoo.
At Vadelma Tattoo, even when several people come in for matching tattoos, we treat every client individually — with the same attention, care, and respect as in any other session. Yes, it takes more time, but the results are better and the experience is calmer.
There are things you simply cannot compromise on in tattooing:
-
hygiene
-
safety
-
clean working standards
And we never do.
If you want to read more about preparation and healing, our aftercare guide and FAQ section cover everything you need to know.
Final Words
Thank you — that’s it for today.
Maybe we’ll meet this summer.
Maybe next year.
Who knows?
If you’re looking for text or floral tattoos in Amsterdam, Vadelma Tattoo is a truly unique place to go. If you feel a connection, feel free to contact us — we’ll be happy to hear from you.
Much love,
Simon
