Touch up Policy
All You need to know about Touch Ups Policy at Vadelma Tattoo.
What are our house rules about and what is the story behind them? Touch ups in general are something very specific to the tattoo industry. I was trying to think about similar examples in other professions, and it is hard to find one. It is even harder to find such an example if we are talking about people who finish their apprenticeship/learning process/education and doing any kind of job for living.
Imagine a dentist who has been treating teeth for 10 years and tell You after the visit :
“If You go home, and after a few days this tooth filling will fall out, just let me know and I’ll do it for You again FOR FREE!”
I personally will be in shock! My nervous system will start to panic! I will think : “How is it possible that after 10 years of experience a dentist who makes fillings every day is not sure if it will stay there or not, and gives himself a getaway in the form of free re-filling?” Do You already see some similarities with tattoos? It is fine and moral to offer free touch ups when You are learning. People who chose a beginner tattoo artist should have such a guarantee. However with a certain level of training You should know what You are doing and offering free touch ups are a sign of distrust in Your own competence. If You are doing Your work, according to the norms, with awareness of Your movements and concentration on quality and precision. Knowing that You did the best that You can at any given moment, then there is no need for such a gateway.
Making tattoos is especially hard
because there is one extremely important factor that has a huge impact on the final result of the tattoo, about which a tattoo artist has no control. Do You know what it is? Yes, You are right! It is the HEALING PROCESS and the way customers take care of the fresh ink during the first, most crucial time – around 1 month.
At Vadelma Tattoo we created for You a whole HEALING section on our website, to provide detailed information about it. If You follow it, then the tattoo is healing nicely. However, it is extremely important to keep a fresh tattoo clean and safe. Plus – NO SCRATCHING! You will have the tattoo for Your whole life – that’s why in our opinion – treating it carefully for the first month is nothing compared to years to come. It is worth it!
So we don’t offer touch ups?
No, of course we do offer them! We just don’t do them for free. Mostly to encourage people to take the proper care of the tattoo. We don’t charge much for a potential touch up, it is a fee to cover our basic cost of material and equipment needed to make a tattoo. Making a touch up in its core, doesn’t differ from making a tattoo. We need to take the same hygienic protocol, use the same amount of materials and book an appointment for You.
At the moment it is a fee of 79 Euro ( Vat included – yes, tax is the main cost ) for a touch up.
Thank You!
